Manifesto

We are searching for a place where we can connect. For that ultimate sense of interconnectedness: to understand something, to understand one another, or simply not to know it all for a moment.

In a world that can sometimes feel lonely, we choose to remain curious, to dare to take the plunge, to be convinced or discouraged, and to breathe deeply whilst giving our system space.

Every human being is part of a greater whole that we cannot fully comprehend or interpret, but to which we are inextricably linked. Art can bring us closer together by revealing the unknown, the as yet intangible, and perhaps even the nostalgic. It invites us to open ourselves up, to experience and to discover together.

For although change is slow, the times we live in demand urgency. We find ourselves in a world where we increasingly live alongside one another, rather than with one another. The need to understand ourselves, others and the world is greater than ever. Without contact, we remain within our own frame of reference. It is precisely by broadening that frame, by encountering what we do not yet know, that we are brought closer together.

Back to the essence: connection through exchange, by trying to understand together and questioning the unknown.

That is why we create a space where you feel at home. Warm. Free. A place where you can engage with your surroundings, be stimulated, and find inspiration in complete relaxation.

With Ding Dong, we are building an accessible platform for anyone curious about contemporary art in the broadest sense. A place where emerging artists and curious enthusiasts can come together, and where artists, viewers and mediators can regard one another as equals. This mutual interdependence is often interpreted as a weakness, as something to be overcome. What if we were to embrace it? What if we were to see it as a starting point? Based in Amsterdam, a place where perspectives converge and shift, we see the city as an indispensable link in the environment within which Ding Dong operates and contributes.

Art is not an economic commodity, but a means of engagement: it inspires us and encourages us to discover together. We work from an ecosystem perspective: a system in which everything is interconnected. It is not just the artwork that matters; we also look at the roots surrounding it, the creator, the viewer, the context and the connections between them. Only within that totality can meaning emerge.

With Ding Dong Gallery, we do not seek to provide answers. We create space for questions. A place where you can always ring our bell.
